Mission Statement

The mission of The Empowerment Program is to provide education, employment assistance, health, housing referrals and support services to women who are in disadvantaged positions due to incarceration, poverty, homelessness, HIV/AIDS infection or involvement in the criminal justice system. Our goal is to decrease rates of recidivism by providing case management, support services, basic skills education, housing and resource coordination that can offer viable alternatives to habits and choices that may lead to criminal behaviors.

Description

We provide health, education, employment, housing and a multitude of supportive services for women in the Denver metropolitan area. All services are provided free of charge to anyone in need, regardless of age, race, ethnicity, sexual preference, transgender status, religion or creed. Our weekly classes and support groups include: Trauma Narrative, Parent Sanctuary, Mental Wellness, Anger Management and Emotional Awareness, GED tutoring, Employment Readiness Training and Job Search Assistance. We also have programs specifically for women who desire to exit lives of prostitution, addiction, abuse, homelessness and poverty. Additionally we provide one-to-one mental health and trauma counseling, as well as programs for women and families living with HIV/AIDS. Free HIV and Hepatitis C testing and risk reduction counseling is available on site weekly.
