Mission Statement

PatchWorx is an online support community for young people facing illness and disability. It is a virtual home without geographical boundaries where youngsters from 5 to 21 gather to share stories, ideas, laughter and tears, to learn from each other, and to make friends with common interests. PatchWorx is a secure place where it is safe to be yourself-never to feel isolated or alone even when confined to a hospital bed or wheelchair.

Description

On our secure site we provide a monitored chatroom and bulletin boards, art and poetry areas, a place where youngsters can ask questions of any kindâ either serious or humorous-and receive an answer from our mascot, Patches and the Quilt, where members can tell their own stories, likes and dislikes. It is entirely web-based, and was organized by people who had first hand experience with the helping children facing illness or disability through technology, technology specialists, and those who had faced such challenges themselves.
