The Boise VA Medical Center is an 88 bed hospital with a small extended care unit. It is considered the center of medical academia in Idaho and is affiliated with the University of Washington School of Medicine, the Boise State University School of Nursing, and the Idaho State University School of Pharmacy. It also has a very active research service.
