Mission Statement

To provide positive experiences for troubled children in a faith based approach.

We provide safe and meaningful interactions between troubled child and horses. These interactions with licensed/certified care givers as well as specially trained and certified animals reinforce positive experiences and relationships.

Allowing the child to understand how they interact and affect horses allows them to understand how to interact with other people.

The program consists of activities that link behaviors to actions. The activities are structured in a way that demonstrates progress towards a goal, encourages each participant and allows them to demonstrate self-restraint, communications, self-control, and collaboration.

Description

Interactions with Horses are very unique and provide specific experiences that are very conducive for people that have experienced trauma. Horses are heard animals that don't prey on other animals. They are the ultimate prey, always keenly aware of their surroundings, social interactions and on the lookout for a predator.

These unique horse behaviors allow individuals to apply solution-focused work; see what is working and continue, and when something doesn't work try a different approach. In addition, being able to convince a horse to do as asked (like raising their leg to clean their hoof) provides a huge sense of accomplishment, self-achievement and self-esteem.

Our program targets the clients in Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facilities and group homes.

Our program helps youths that are in local Psychiatric Residential Treatment. We partner with their therapy staff to provide regular interactions with the horses so personal bonds and relationships can develop.
