The Grottesco Ensemble rekindles interest in live performance by juxtaposing classical and modern theatrical styles with a daring, poetic research of culture and imagination, giving voice to the marginal elements of our contemporary society, and taking audiences to the brink of emotional wonder and soulful reflection.

Description

"Theater Grottesco has created 10 full-length and some 30 shorter works since we began in Paris in 1983. We are a Lecoq trained ensemble and known for our use of classic styles and their combinations, along with the creation of new styles to achieve bold visual productions. This is startling physical performance, juxtaposing the resonance of classical theatrical styles with a daring, poetic research of culture and imagination. We pride ourselves on a unique artistic vision. With nearly 25 years of dynamic creations, Theater Grottesco has developed a distinct approach to making theater which is playful, intelligent and always surprising, work which is equally engaging to the child, the novice and the connoisseur"
