Our mission is to prevent child abuse, value children and strengthen families in Elkhart County.

Description

Elkhart County CASA Program represents children who are involved in the court system through no fault of their own. Children frequently have no one representing their best interests in the court system. This is where the CASA program steps in . The Elkhart County CASA Program is a program of Child and Parent Services, Inc. (CAPS). CAPS is a uniqe and innovative agency with a variety of programs responding to the needs of families and abused children in Elkhart County. CAPS is commited to preventing abuse before it begins by getting involved with families and building on the strengths they already have.

I am not yet sure. I am interested in helping build strong families, the mission of the program. I understand the cycle of abuse and imbalance of power that underlies it with regards to children and the elderly. I have helped a couple of friends that have ben caught in it, the best I could. I helped myself out of an emotionally and then physically abusive marriage 16 years ago. It is an interest of mine to help and to learn to teach and prevent.
