Mission Statement

A Reason To Survive (ARTS) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing hope, healing, and self confidence to the lives of children and youth facing various adversities by providing expressive opportunities through the visual and performing arts

Description

ARTS is composed of volunteers from the community working toward a single goal - to share their love and creativity to make a difference in the lives of children and youth facing adversities. Our unique outreach program places volunteers in hospitals, abuse or homeless shelters, community centers, and schools. Volunteers work with children and youth who are terminally or chronically ill, mentally or physically challenged, abused, homeless, or socially disadvantaged. Through painting, drawing, music, writing, drama, and other creative avenues, the organization serves as a catalyst in helping the children and youth to communicate and express themselves in new ways. This creative process takes place in a loving environment where children receive support and guidance from the volunteers. The volunteers help the children to enhance and renew their sense of self-confidence, accomplishment, hope, and purpose - a reason to survive the adversities they are facing
