MAVA connects, educates, strengthens and advocates for volunteer engagement leaders and their organizations to positively impact communities.
MAVA is the premiere statewide organization uniting, educating and advancing Minnesota communities through excellence in leadership of volunteers and best practices in organizational volunteerism. MAVA is a powerful force for leaders of volunteers. We provide exchange of relevant information and ideas and effective professional development. We constantly shape the future of volunteerism through extensive research and initiatives. We provide regular and frequent access to training for leaders of volunteers using local partnerships. MAVA's programs include innovative best practice training that has reached thousands of leaders, managing a VISTA AmeriCorps program, a Service Enterprise Initiative to build capacity for volunteerism, and research resulting in cutting edge curriculum. This research includes the Inclusive Civic Volunteerism Initiative, a 2017 project funded by the St. Paul Foundation that researched and developed best practices for engaging volunteers from immigrant and diverse communities within local government programs. MAVA also hosts an annual conference to support professional development for leaders of volunteers, and provide information on trends and issues.
