Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide learner-centered instruction which supports learners in their major life role as family members, citizens, community members and workers. The learner works with a volunteer tutor who is trained at a free workshop provided by the Woodland Library Literacy Service.
Description
Public libraries participating in the California Library Literacy Service provide English language literacy instruction for adults and out-of-school youth. This instruction is provided through volunteers who are trained and managed by professional library literacy staff to deliver one-on-one or small group instruction in basic reading and writing. We will also be going out to the community in a 36 ft long bus and handing out information to children and their parents.
