Mission Statement

CHILDREN'S DISCOVERY MUSEUM MISSION STATEMENT: To engage the children and families of Northern Minnesota in exploring nature, art, history and their place as part of the world. Through educational hands-on exhibits, programs and activities, the Museum encourages children to learn about and respect themselves, others and the place in which they live.

Description

The Children's Discovery Museum (CDM) is a non-profit educational institution in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. The CDM features an art studio and changing educational exhibits. The cornerstones that lay the foundation for all of the Museum's exhibits, programs and activities include the natural environment, a sense of place and home. The CDM offers hands-on educational enrichment programs through our Interactive School Programs during the regular school year. In the summer the Museum provides school groups scheduled activities through our Summer Camp Programs. We provide children, living in the surrounding ten-county area a chance to participate in museum-developed games and activities that form a connection to the exhibit on display. The CDM also facilitates hands-on Early Education Programs for three-to-five year-olds. On weekends during the school year and four time's each week during the summer the Museum holds Family Programs. These exhibit-related craft activities take place in the Museum's Art Studio. The CDM is funded in part by the Blandin Foundation.
