Mission Statement

Feed NE Minnesota and NW Wisconsin's hungry by rescuing and distributing food and engaging our region in the fight against hunger.

Description

Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and sole distributor of surplus food and grocery product to over 180 charitable feeding programs, including our region's soup kitchens, food shelves and shelters. As a food bank, our primary role is to provide food to the front-line charitable agencies that offer meals to the hungry. In addition, we provide food directly to 3,000 in-need residents monthly as part of our Hermantown Area Food Shelf, Mobile Food Pantry, Nutrition Assistance Program for Seniors (NAPS) and BackPack Programs.

As part of Feeding America, a national network of food banks, we rescue food and non-food items from national and regional manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, restaurateurs and growers. These products are temporarily stored in our 24,000 square foot warehouse, then quickly distributed to agencies and approximately 44,000 people in need throughout our service region.
