To champion a more literate community in San Diego County by providing creative leadership to new and existing literacy efforts.

Description

The Council on Literacy is a strong coalition of adult, youth, and family literacy programs working together since 1986 to solve the problems faced by thousands of individuals who cannot read above the 4th grade level. Our partner literacy programs provide one-on-one, small group, and classroom literacy services for English speakers, all at no cost to the public. We also have a variety of other programs including English as a Second Language (ESL), General Education Development (GED), and adult basic education.
