Mission Statement
To share the love of God with the people of southern Sudan in a way that leads them toward peaceful and self-reliant living from the grassroots level, so that available resources will meet the needs of their communities.
Description
Our activities include: PEACE and SELF-GOVERNANCE - SSFI works in Sudan at grassroots, national, and inter-national levels to initiate and encourage peace-building. Our object is to bring people together for talks and help them find common ground for reconciliation and restoration of civil society. Our long-term goal is to establish community leadership development workshops throughout southern Sudan. SELF-RELIANCE and WOMEN - SSFI helps people in Sudanese communities learn to support one another and live together in peace by teaching and applying principles of pluralism, democracy, self-reliance, and respect for human rights within the context of the Christian faith and the Sudanese culture. Our goal is to establish a network of locally managed medical, literacy, and training centers in key communities in South Sudan. ADVOCACY - Our goal is to become a resource for helping others make a difference in Sudan. SSFI's website went online in 1998. We also receive numerous requests for translations, refugee assistance, and information about Sudan.
