Mission Statement

The mission of the SOSCAT (Sutherlin - Oakland Stray Cat Action Team) is to pursue workable solutions to address the overpopulation and suffering of abandoned and unwanted feral cats in Oakland and Sutherlin through the nationally recognized and effective method of "TNR" (trap-neuter-return). In addition, the SOSCAT is dedicated to promoting a No Kill Community in DouglasCounty through public education and cooperatively working with other animal welfare organizations.

Description

SOSCAT (Sutherlin - Oakland Stray Cat Action Team) is currently under the non-profit status of an Oakland Oregon civic group called OCRT which stands for Oakland Community Response Team. This civic group is non political and is comprised of citizens dedicated to the improvement of life in our town of Oakland Oregon. SOSCAT is in the process of acquiring our own non profit status and its own EIN. SOSCAT is a group of concerned individuals that have seen the suffering and neglect cast upon our feline companions. Cats are often abondoned when people move or discarded in the countryside to fend for themselves against the wildlife preditors that abound in this area. We spay and neuter stray and feral cats and return them to their location, if possible. We have found that 3/4 of the cats that we live trap are not feral cats, but abandoned cats that were someone pet in the recent past. So we have started an adoption center to adopt these cats to loving and forever caring families. Please help us help these beautiful, affectionate cats find their new homes and lives! See our website at www.soscat.org.
