Mission Statement

The Advocate Program, Inc. is a multi-faceted, community agency whose mission is to facilitate social change and enhance public safety through leadership, research, education, supervision, and services, utilizing best and evidence-based practices.

Description

For 30 years the Advocate Program, Inc. has been providing quality services to the citizens of Miami-Dade County. We are a private, not-for-profit agency offering structured probation, traditional probation, diversion, and community service programs to the Courts of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit (Miami-Dade County, Florida), both adult and juvenile. Additionally the Program operates a Licensed D.U.I. School, Traffic School, Domestic Violence Unit, and a Training and Treatment Unit.

Due mainly to its early experience as a group counseling program, the Program pioneered the concept of "structured probation". Instead of the standard monthly reports to a probation officer (although that approach is used with certain defendants), the Program offers a series of educational classes and counseling groups based on the needs of the offender and/or the substantive charge. An obvious key to a successful offender program is case management. All Advocate counselors have their own personal computers and client information is stored in a custom developed database, specifically designed for offender management, insuring that client records and status are instantly available. The program strives to constantly keep up with technology in order to best serve our clients and provide accurate compliance with all conditions.
