Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
The mission of the California Autism Foundation is to provide people with autism and other developmental disabilities the best possible opportunities for lifetime support, training and assistance in helping them reach their highest potential for independence, productivity and fulfillment.
Our goal at the California Autism Foundation (CAF) is to provide hundreds of autistic children and adults with an environment and experiences that will accommodate their desire for routine and security while helping them explore and fully realize their abilities and creativity. We do this in a variety of ways and through a number of programs to best suit their needs and capabilities.
The California Autism Foundation serves people with autism and other developmental disabilities by offering them "A Better Chance" through five programs. CAF offers Residential Services through three group homes and Supported Living Programs for mainstream living for 20 adults capable of greater independence. The community based education programs at ABC School and Camp provide 45 children with education and activities year round. These programs combine education, community social interaction, and self help skills. The curriculum is individualized and skills-based including: basic math, language arts, vocational training, culinary, art and music classes.
The ABC Day Program provides a community based vocational training, adult education, and activity enrichment curriculum to over 90 adults each day. This program includes transportation to and from the client’s home and within the greater community on field trips with service to elderly and disabled people. ABC Industries offers supported employment, vocational training, adult education, and job coaching. These programs serve over 70 adults with autism or other developmental disabilities.
All of these programs are customized for the individuals and offer flexible levels of stimulation and positive reinforcement. The supervision and staffing follows state mandated staff to client ratios. We have a friendly team-oriented peer environment for work activities, homes that really feel like homes, and enrichment programs of art, music, and computer classes which foster success and address life-long care. Over 50 of our clients and their families have been served by CAF for more than 15 years. Developing and managing daily routine is a key success factor in improving the quality of life for our clients.
