Mission Statement

Clean hands, a healthy diet, understanding the dangers of smoking, drugs, and alcohol. Children need these life skills to enhance their well-being. Through health education and positive role models, the Adopt-A-School Program empowers school-aged children to make healthy lifestyle choices now and in the future.

Description

The Adopt-A-School Program places physicians, nurses, medical & nursing students, and other healthcare professionals in local elementary, middle, and high schools to augment preventative health education to staff and students. Adopt-A-School is a non-profit program of the Sierra Sacramento Valley Medical Society. Since the program was started in 1989, Adopt-A-School volunteers reach an average of 7,000 students per year.
