Mission Statement

"Vizcaya Museum and Gardens is a National Historic Landmark that preserves the Miami estate of agricultural industrialist James Deering to engage our community and its visitors in learning through the arts, history and the environment."

Description

Vizcaya is a National Historic Landmark; we're also a museum owned by Miami-Dade County and accredited by the American Association of Museums. Vizcaya is open to the public 364 days each year, and we invite you to visit this serene and stunningly beautiful retreat in the heart of Miami.

Built by agricultural industrialist James Deering in 1916, Vizcaya Museum & Gardens features a main house, ten acres of formal gardens, a rockland hammock (native forest), and soon-to-be-restored historic village.

Vizcaya is a fabulous place to be, the training program for guides is very professional, and giving tours is really rewarding. Becoming a guide is a major commitment but well worth it if you have the time.
