Mission Statement
The Center for the Human Rights of Users and Survivors of Psychiatry (CHRUSP) works for full legal capacity for all, an end to forced drugging, electroshock and psychiatric incarceration, and support that respects individual integrity and free will.
Description
CHRUSP was conceived during the last year of the negotiations of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, in 2006. Two of CHRUSP's founders had been involved in the negotiations and wanted to create a human rights organization run by users and survivors of psychiatry, dedicated to the vision of change set out in the Convention as a result of our work. CHRUSP areas of work include: Standard-setting and promotion of human rights norms; Law reform; Human rights monitoring and enforcement; Education; and Spotlight on key issues.
