Whether a student, retiree, stay-at-home parent or business owner, you can be the one constant in children's lives to help them succeed for a lifetime. All you need is a passion for children and a few hours a month to advocate and help find them safe, permanent homes as quickly as possible. Sign up today for our upcoming training class to learn how you can give back to the community by making a difference in a child's life.

Would you recommend Union County GAL Program?

by Sharon S. (2011-01-26 16:23:28.0)
I lobbied, did a lot of public speaking to obtain the SC Center for Missing & Abused Children. Due to my efforts and the publicity gained, I was personally contacted, requested, and appointed to the task force by then Gov. Richard Riley. I am an advocate for children and worked with the Union Co. School District as a volunteer and long-term substitute teacher, prior to becoming the Corp. HR Director for Conso Products. I served as PTA Pres. @ Foster Park & Sims, Member of the SCPTA Executive Board of Directors, District Pres. for Union & Cherokee Counties, School Improvement Council, etc. I had the priviledge of talking w/John Walsh privately. He told me the SC Laws that needed to be changed to protect our children. I researched these laws in the Law Books prior to my lobbying for the SC Center. I feel I would be an excellent candidate to volunteer with this agency.
