Mission Statement

SDTTS is a 501 (c)3, 400+ member, non-profit organization. Made up of all volunteers, it is dedicated to Turtles and Tortoise rescue, rehabilitation, adoptions & education.

These animals have been relinquished by owners or found by the public and turned into us. We evaluate them and if in good health, adopt them to approved & suitable homes.

We hold monthly public meetings on Turtle & Tortiose care, conservation, and their environment. At public event we promote education and adoptions. Every Summer we host the Balboa Park Turtle & Tortoise Show and Plant Sale.

Serving San Diego County and Southern Callfirnia since 1970.

Description

Each and every day we receive calls and emails from the public asking for advice on care, how they can surrender their animal and what to do if they found an animal.

Our volunteers pick up the animals and take them to the proper volunteer for foster care.

Our volunteers also set up foster homes for us and take care of the animals until they are placed.

We have volunteers that review our hand out information and help with suggestions.

We have volunteers that enjoy working at the shows and events and getting involved with the public.

Fundraising and publicity are other major functions that support our mission.

None of our officers or personnel is paid. We are all volunteers.
