Mission Statement

Founded in 1986, Southern Rep's mission is to develop and produce new plays by American playwrights, to provide our audience with professional theatre of the highest artistic quality and achievement, and to establish a creative working environment that nurtures theatre professionals. As New Orleans' premiere professional theatre we strive to use the artistry of theater to enlighten, educate, and entertain audiences, and aim to extend that service through educational and outreach programs.

Description

We produce new, cutting-edge shows for local audiences. Our past shows have included regional and world premieres. Our goals are to produce high-caliber productions for the enjoyment and cultural enrichment of both seasoned theatre-goers and young students who may be experiencing theatre for the first time. We strive to develop an appreciation for theatre among the school-age community and make our programs financially accessible to all audiences, regardless of age and economic means.
