Mission Statement

AmeriCorps is the national service movement that is engaging thousands of Americans of all ages and backgrounds in a domestic Peace Corps to "get things done" and help improve our country. AmeriCorps is also an excellent opportunity for individuals to incorporate learning experiences with community service activities.

Description

AmeriCorps members will focus their "Getting Things Done" efforts on serving at-risk youth ages 5 to 18 in the City of Arlington, Tarrant County. At-risk youth are defined as those that are affected by one or more of the following: low socio-economic status, poor academic skills, teen pregnancy, risk of being homeless, truancy concerns, risk of dropping out of school, behavioral issues, and other critical matters. The program will strive to provide academic tutoring, mentoring, and social work services for these youth in order to place them with opportunities to succeed.
