Mission Statement

Mission
To help make Saint Paul the most livable city in America, Saint Paul Parks and Recreation will facilitate the creation of active lifestyles, vibrant places, and a vital environment.

Description

Saint Paul Parks and Recreation's Natural Resources unit, which includes Environmental Services, Forestry, and Arts & Gardens, has a growing volunteer program that is perfect for people who enjoy the outdoors and want to positively impact Saint Paul's natural areas, parks, and gardens.

Our environmental programs focus on protecting, enhancing, and providing access to the city's natural resources. Staff from various sections throughout Parks and Recreation play a role in these programs.

We:

  • Coordinate environmental volunteer opportunities
  • Conduct monitoring and research of natural resources in parks
  • Restore and manage vital and unique ecosystems
  • Provide interpretation and education

We also work with citizens and non-profit, county, state, and national agencies to coordinate efforts which enhance the natural environment of Saint Paul.
