Mission Statement

Wisconsin Lakes

Conserving, enhancing and restoring Wisconsin's lakes

Mission

Wisconsin Lakes is a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to conserving, enhancing and restoring Wisconsin lakes by fostering responsible lake stewardship and by promoting effective, beneficial environmental public policy.

Description

Wisconsin Lakes is the only statewide organization working exclusively to protect and enhance the quality of Wisconsin's 15,000 inland lakes.

As a membership organization, we represent approximately 400 lake organizations and 550 individuals who are registered members of Wisconsin Lakes. Lake organizations each represent numbers ranging anywhere from dozens to several thousand members - our constituency totals approximately 107,000 citizens. By engaging lake organizations and individual members we are able to reach large numbers of people who live on or near lakes, who recreate on lakes, or who are otherwise interested in lakes. Our members receive a monthly electronic e-Lake letter, a quarterly publication, The Lake Connection, and regular action alerts.

Wisconsin Lakes has a cohesive plan and goals to guide our direction. We take our mission and vision and puts it into action by assisting and educating lake groups and lake users in their efforts for lakes, by helping local leaders manage and restore lakes and their watersheds, by providing a unified voice for public policy that will protect and preserve lakes, and by advancing advance public knowledge of lakes, their watershed, and ecosystems.
