Mission Statement

The Neighborhood Networks mission is to help ensure that all Americans-regardless of age, income, race, ethnicity, disability, or geography-gain access to the technological tools and skills needed in the digital economy. We strive to engage seniors and disabled persons in computer classes and Internet access, social and cultural programs/outings, and personal safety to help maintain self-sufficiency.

Description

It gives me great pleasure to introduce to you Episcopal Square Apartment’s Neighborhood Networks Center; one of the first federal initiatives to promote self-sufficiency and help provide computer access to FHA-insured and -assisted housing communities by establishing a multiservice community learning center that brings digital opportunities and lifelong learning to residents living in multifamily-insured and/or -assisted housing. In April of this year, Neighborhood Networks officially began operation.

The benefits of our Neighborhood Networks center are far-reaching. Seniors are gaining access to health programs and services, computer training to enable a new and vital communication highway through email and instant messaging to distant family and friends, and activities that help them remain productive and maintain their quality of life and independence. Residents with disabilities are gaining access to equipment, products, and software that incorporate assistive technology. And, our community is benefiting by the creation of a positive force that helps connect our residents and community members to greater opportunities.
