Scholarships to YOU Description
Scholarships to YOU, Inc. was formed in January 2009 for charitable and educational purposes. Specifically, we provide transition scholarships to laid off, unemployed, underemployed and low income individuals to attend certification training at Training to YOU, Inc. in Phoenix, Arizona. It has been a frustrating and discouraging experience that many of our motivated applicants can not afford the cost of tuition or qualify for financing and therefore were unable to advance their lives. Scholarships to YOU was formed to answer this call for educational help in Phoenix, Arizona.
Because most of these applicants desire to acquire marketable computer skills quickly the computer training programs offered will be short term in nature (3-7 months) to minimize unemployment time. Each scholarship award will range from $1000- $6500 depending on program cost and individual’s income status. These scholarships are not loans, so the recipient will not have to pay back any portion. Each training program will lead to a recognized certification (Microsoft technical and Office, Project Management, CompTIA or National Health Career ) in order to improve employment opportunities. Each scholarship recipient will also receive special job placement assistance to facilitate better employment faster. Potential applicants will hear about the Foundation’s scholarships through the Training to YOU's admission team, its website, referrals and word of mouth.
The activities of Scholarships to YOU will be conducted at the offices of Training to YOU, governed by its Board and performed by the Scholarship Selection committee who determines which applicants will receive scholarships and the amounts awarded. Eligible applicants must be recently laid off, unemployed, underemployed or low income individuals (determined by average Phoenix Metropolitan income statistics). The Scholarship Selection committee will meet each month to determine scholarships awarded. By providing scholarships to individuals in need and facilitating better job placement, Scholarships to YOU’s activities directly further our exempt charitable and educational purposes.
The activities of Scholaarships to YOU will be funded primarily through government and private educational grants. The organization will use the expertise of grant writers to apply for all relevant charitable and educational grants that allow the organization to accelerate the careers of more unemployed, underemployed and low income individuals. It is the Foundation’s goal to serve over 200 individuals in 2013.
