Mission Statement

The mission of the Santa Carita Valley Youth Orchestra is to provide young people with: a high quality, instrumental music education and experience, the opportunity to play in a full symphony orchestra, exposure to orchestral and chamber music literature from all historical periods and the opportunity to grow and succeed as a musician in a friendly, supportive environment, regardless of ability to pay.

Description

A three tiered orchestral program, rehearsing weekly, at College of the Canyons, consisting of the Prelude Strings, for beginning string players, the Orchestra, an intermediate level full orchestra, and the Philharmonic, for advanced students. Students are placed into the different tiers of the program based on an audition at the betginning of the semester. There is a two week summer program, and a fall and spring program each year. At the end of each semester, the orchestra provides a free community performance at the College of the Canyons.
