Adopt A Husky, Inc. is a 501(c)3 organization devoted to rehoming abandoned and stray purebred Siberian Huskies through a network of foster homes.
Our ever-expanding volunteer base has successfully placed over 1200 deserving dogs since September, 1998. The dogs ranging in age from puppies born into our care to twelve years, whose only crime was not having been raised in an environment that understood the breed. Most are purchased from puppy mills or pet stores, solely interested in the profit, and the new owners are not told anything about the needs of a Siberian Husky. Occasionally we are asked to take a dog removed from an abusive situation or one who has lost an owner due to a death. All dogs receive top medical care, are spayed or neutered, tested heartworm negative, are current on their vaccinations and microchipped for identification. We treat heartworm positive cases and have rehabbed many dogs with major injuries such as broken pelvises, legs, hips and jaws. Although the majority of our dogs are fostered in the Chicagoland and Southern Wisconsin areas, we exist in Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Indiana, Ohio, Washington, Oregon and Idaho.
