Wildfires are devastating communities across California, causing more than 300,000 people to evacuate their homes and threatening many more. The Camp Fire in Northern California -- one of three blazing across the state -- is the most destructive in state history. We want to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you find access to shelter. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know the most effective ways to contribute.

Give to the World is a charitable organization that provides for families who need even the most basic human services and infrastructure for daily survival. Through extensive donations of clothing, blankets, toys, school supplies, and other goods, we assist the less fortunate with the material items necessary to overcome these tremendous hardships.
Give to the World is a volunteer-only charitable organization that plays a critical role in helping families in war-torn countries overcome tremendous hardships. At the same time, it gives U.S. servicemen and women unique opportunities to build positive relationships with the local communities in which they operate. Gi ve to the World sends clothing, blankets, toys, and other goods donated by American families, thrift stores and schools to U.S. military points of contact who can distribute these goods in remote areas of unstable countries, such as Afghanistan and Iraq.
In 2003, a U.S. Marine Corps officer founded Give to the World while he was serving in Afghanistan. It quickly became clear that conditions were too hostile for traditional Non-Governmental Organizations to assist the local populace, so he distributed the clothing and toys generously donated by his family and members of his hometown community. Give to the World's first project in Afghanistan supported an orphanage of 240 children. The organization grew throughout the founder's tours in Afghanistan and in Iraq, and it now reaches families in Colombia and Peru as well. Give to the World has shipped an average of 2,000 pounds of clothing and toys to the U.S. military each year between 2003 and 2009. Give to the World is a low-cost, non-profit operation. We have established relationships with thrift stores in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area that donate their excess goods to Give to the World each month. Give to the World's only costs include packaging tape and shipping fees.
