Mission Statement

The Literacy Council of Saginaw County exists to better the lives of Saginaw County Adults by improving their level of literacy. We offer one-on-one tutoring of adults who need to learn to read better.

Description

adult/tutor reading program

Literacy Council volunteers work one-on-one with adults who need to learn to read better. All volunteers receive a 12 hour training program, and opportunities for inservice education.

The adults you will be working with may have very low reading levels. They are motivated to learn to read to make some positive changes in their life, like reading to their children, reading the Bible or getting a job.

The Literacy Council will provide the workbooks and teachers guide that you will use with your students. The program is free of charge.
