Mission Statement
The Mission of the Riviera Theatre & Organ Preservation Society, which maintains and preserves the Riviera Theatre and its WurliTzer theatre organ, is dedicated to creating a diverse cultural and educational performance venue that through a variety of programming, enriches the community and region, drawing international artists and patrons to the theatre.
The Riviera Theatre and Organ Preservation Society, Inc. uses volunteers in many capacities. The vast majority of theRiviera’s volunteers help at performances and events as Ushers, Ticket Takers, Will Call,Box Office, Concessions, Soft Confections, House Organists and so on. Volunteers also work at the theatre at other times besides events in the office/box office, assisting with fundraising and publicity, doing cleaning and maintenance. We have some Tour Coordinators, Tour Docents and Tour Runners as well. If someone has another area of expertise and would like to share it with the Riv as a volunteer, we are open to creating new volunteer opportunities, too!
Description
Built in 1926, The Historic Riviera Theatre and Performing Arts Center operates year-round offering diverse programming, including but not limited to: movies, organ concerts, rock concerts, opera, live theatrical stage productions, dance and music recitals, comedy, graduations, special events and much more. The theatre seats 1,140 patrons. It was saved from destruction and has been lovingly restored to its former grandeur by its many volunteers. It is one of the few period "silent movie era" theatres which still retains its original Wurlitzer Concert Organ. Numerous house organists, who are also volunteers, proudly play not only full concerts programs but also play before the start of many other programs.
