Are you a compassionate person who enjoys spending time with older adults? You can be a source of support to a hospice patient/family in the final part of the patient’s life journey. Provide companionship by listening to a patient’s life stories, playing music, or simply sitting quietly with them. You can also sit with a patient so family members can take a break, or assist with running errands. There are options to visit someone at a facility or in their own home in the Northern Virginia area. Volunteers also have opportunities to assist Goodwin Hospice by making deliveries and phone calls to check in on families. Orientation and ongoing training will be provided. Please join our outstanding hospice team for this rewarding work! *Volunteers are particularly needed in the Fairfax/Vienna/McLean areas.

Would you like to be a source of support to someone after the loss of a loved one? Goodwin Hospice is seeking volunteers to assist with bereavement services. This may involve delivering sympathy gift bags to loved ones of hospice patients that have passed away or providing the comfort of a friendly visit to someone who has lost their spouse. Volunteer orientation and ongoing training will be provided.

Are you a compassionate person who would like to enrich the lives of older adults? Are you detail-oriented? Goodwin Hospice is seeking motivated college student volunteers to provide companionship to older adults with life-limiting illnesses. Additional tasks may include helping with mailings and deliveries, making phone calls to families, pulling data for reports, and helping with special projects. Hours are very flexible, 3-6 hours per week. Some weekday availability preferred but some duties can be done on weekends. Criminal background check, TB screening and 5 hour volunteer orientation required. Volunteers are a critical part of the hospice team! Please consider joining us for this rewarding work.

Our mission is to support, honor and uplift the lives of older adults and the people who care for them. To enhance the residents’ quality of life, Goodwin House Bailey's Crossroads encourages an active, involved lifestyle through a well-rounded program of fine arts, crafts, education, and social enrichment. We are interested in hosting volunteers to come in on the weekends and lead a 45 min to 1-hour long enrichment activity with residents on our Assisted Living or Healthcare Center floors. What activities can you lead? Play games, hold discussions, show off your art skills with an activity, run pre-scheduled activities, or share your own talents or interests!
