Positive Solutions succeeds in its mission by providing individuals with disabilities the opportunity to share their concerns, access accurate benefit related information, and gain self-advocacy training through one-to-one disability benefits counseling, workshops/forums, and Internet technologies. Positive Solutions is a non-profit agency, which provides benefits counseling to people with disabilities who live in King and Kitsap counties. Positive Solutions is one of two Benefits Planning Assistance and Outreach Programs in Washington State funded by a Cooperative Agreement with the Social Security Administration. Disability benefits counseling is a step by step process that clearly explains the current state, federal and private disability programs and the impact on the individuals they serve. Positive Solutions interacts with disability program administrators, to provide accurate information that directly applies to the individual. Focused solely on disability benefit issues, our Benefits Specialists are able to break down agency jargon into concise and simple explanations so the client is better able to understand the structure of the rules and regulations. In addition, Positive Solutions provides self-advocacy training. This training prepares the client to interact with the benefits providers and to better navigate the benefits system. Due to privacy concerns of our clients all volunteers are required to sign a Non-Disclosure agreement and a Confidentiality Agreement.
