Humility of Mary Housing Ministry is a system of non-profit corporations providing quality housing and supportive services. sponsored by the sisters of the Humility of Mary, the ministry exists to empower, strengthen, and increase the self-reliance of individuals and families, especially those with low-income.
The primary purpose of this program is to provide decent, safe and affordable housing to previously homeless families and to address the issues that contributed to their homelessness.
HM Life currently owns and operates 32-units of transitional housing in the Akron/Summit County area. All of the apartments are fully furnished, complete with fully-equipped kitchens and bathrooms. Brand new bedding and towels are provided as well.
Throughout the 2 year transitional period, HM Life provides services and resources to assist the families in reaching their goal of self-sufficiency and securing permanent housing. Major components of the HMLOS program include weekly group sessions, weekly meetings with a Case Manager, referrals to educational/job skills training programs, assistance with securing and maintaining employment, assistance with food, clothing and educational expenses and a six-month aftercare program.
