Mission Statement

The broadest mission of the Eva Foundation is to support the physical, social, moral, intellectual, creative, spiritual, psychological and emotional growth of motivated girls age 11 through 18 who have a demonstrable financial need. The Foundation's work is inspired by the life of Eva Gunther, who was killed by a drunk driver at the age of 12 1/2. Eva had a compassionate heart coupled with a strong sense of fairness and justice. Her family established the Foundation to remember Eva’s remarkable strengths and achievements by helping other girls develop their own.

Description

The Eva Gunther Foundation supports girls by funding individual fellowship grants and program grants, as well as supporting collaboration amongst its grantee organizations. At the core of engaged philanthropy is the ability to build meaningful relationships in order to best assist grantees’ efforts. Because the Foundation was created to honor Eva’s legacy, the requirement to listen fiercely and with great respect and empathy is at the core of the Eva Gunther Foundation’s approach to philanthropy. Eva was a deeply compassionate soul; her essence was to give and cooperate. Coupling this pedagogy with disciplined professional engagement can identify the most effective strategies to support individual girls and program staff’s capacities.
