Mission Statement

The mission of the East Bay Foster Grandparent Program is to support positive outcomes for children in need by providing volunteer opportunities to income eligible individuals age 55 and older. The East Bay Foster Grandparent Program, sponsored by East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) is funded by the Corporation of National and Community Service.

Description

The Foster Grandparent Program (FGP) is part of the Senior Corps, a network of national service programs, including the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) and the Senior Companion Program, that provide older Americans the opportunity to put their life experiences to work for local communities. Foster Grandparents work directly with children under 18 and serve as mentors, tutors, and caregivers for at risk children and youth with special needs through a variety of community organizations, including schools, libraries, group homes, before and after school programs and shelters for children.
