Missions of The Learning House
Because we are a school for children, parents, and professionals, our mission is threefold. We are:
Developing a fully inclusive early childhood model school that is innovative and developmentally appropriate for children of all abilities between the ages of birth to eight years.
Giving parents; especially those of children with special needs; a resource center where they can get answers, ideas and advocacy support.
Facilitating quality workshops for early childhood educators and child care professionals that model best practices, use hands-on activities, and give practical ideas for the classroom.
Description
The Learning House is a non-profit early childhood school serving children of all abilities between birth and age 8, their parents, and the professionals responsible for the care and education of young children. We offer the following programs:
- Therapeutic infant/toddler playgroups (parents stay and play)
- Math and Science Based Preschool, Fabulous 4's, and PreKindergarten
- Math and Science Based enrichment programs for 5-8 year olds
- Kindergarten
- Workshops for parents and professionals
- Advocacy support for parents of children with special needs
Our school is extremely unique in that all our programs are offered in a non-daycare setting. This means that children come to school for 90 minutes to 2 hours and 45 minutes; depending on the program; they explore and then go home to further their exploration. Our uniqueness is also shown in the fact that we have a Math and Science based curriculum so children can learn and practice critical thinking and problem solving skills and our staff is highly qualified to do the work we do. Our goals are simple: to be the best and the leader in early childhood education and developmental appropriateness.
