To help alleviate hunger in Connecticut, prevent food waste, and create community.

Description

Food Runners picks up excess perishable food from farmers markets and businesses such as farms, restaurants and bakeries then delivers it to community organizations that feed hungry children and families.

We are modeled after the Food Runners program in San Francisco.

This opportunity couldn't be easier! Food Runners does the legwork of finding organizations with excess food*, all you have to do is pick up the leftover food and drive it to a shelter or soup kitchen. Done. You will get instant gratification of: 1.) eliminating food waste, and 2.) helping feed hungry people! *P.S. You?ll soon be smitten with this brilliantly simple idea that you?ll want to recruit local schools, restaurants, corporate cafeterias, etc. Food Runners has marketing materials you can use to approach organizations and ask them to get involved.
