Mission Statement

The Purpose of the Kinship program is 1) to provide a one-on-one mentoring relationship to youth in our community who need comprehensive and inclusive support and 2) to offer friendship and activities to those youth who have been identified as needing additional support in their lives. Through this mentoring friendship the child receives guidance, advise, and companionship, thus creating an environment to enrich and enhance the life of that child.

Description

The mentors of the Kinship program agree to spend 2-4 hours each week with their mentees, to be part of monthly activities and to attend any additional ongoing training. This mentoring relationship has the potential of being a stabiling factor as the mentee develops personal life skills that will enable him/her to move towards their own vision of a productive healthy life. Through community service projects and the monthly group activities, the mentees have opportunity to interact with other caring community volunteers in addition to their own mentor.
