Multiethnic Children And Youth Peace Centers

MCYPC takes as its basis the idea that: 1) the project can achieve its goals to the fullest extent if it is built on local potential and if it develops in response to local needs; 2) children and youth can take a proactive role in promoting social and environmental consciousness in their community. Through education as well as fun activities, arts, drama, and collective work projects children and youth will investigate and explore their position in social structures of Mitrovice and, further on, in Kosovo/a's society. They will develop a positive view of the future of their hometown and country and will develop works promoting progressive social, ecological, and cultural changes. By opening forums for education, expression and creativity in multiethnic groups of children and youth of Mitrovice and in other parts of Kosovo/a, the MCYPC program will help overcome differences and tension based on ethnicity and will open channels for creative dialog and cooperation to all communities regardless of their ethnicity.
