Mission Statement
The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Florida is to help children reach their potential through professionally supported, one-to-one mentoring relationships with measurable impact.
Description
Community One-To-One
The Community Based Program works through one-to-one interactions between a Big and Little within the community to enhance the life of the child. Bigs and Littles meet an average of 6 hours a month to do various activities such as biking, going to the beach, park, museum, movies, etc.
Bigs in Schools
Bigs in Schools is a site based mentoring program that works to improve the child's academic, social, and behavioral performance through one-to-one interactions between a Big and Little. Our Bigs in Schools matches are committed to meeting one hour a week, each week of the school year at the child's school.
Children of Promise
The Children of Promise Program mirrors our community and site based programs while placing emphasis on serving children who have one or more parental figures incarcerated at the State or Federal level. With recidivism rates for these children at ~70%, the Children of Promise Program is our agency's dedication to breaking the cycle of incarceration.
