Mission Statement
Encourage minority youth to consider careers in math and science and research the dynamics that affect learning on the cellular level.
Description
Our early programs were the KinderLab pilot in the Hartford School System, Exceptional Black Scientists material to Connecticut city schools with large minority enrollment and partnering with American Association of Aeronautics and Astronautics for Space Career Weekend at University of Hartford. We started PEMA to look at what makes some learning programs succeed, and why some fail. Programs using dynamics that examine learning or relearning on the cellular level are Project Recovery and Precious Passage. Presently, Precious Passage breast cancer programs feature the Waterbury Hospital and UConn Health Center study #06-571-2 for breast cancer women to reduce stress.
