Mission Statement
the Mississippi SIDS Alliance, Inc., (the "Corporation") provides support services to families who are or may be touched by the tragedy of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. The Alliance also provides training and education on SIDS and Safe Sleep Environments to professionals, low socio-economic communities/individuals and to the disadvantaged high-risk populations. The Mississippi SIDS Alliance also supports research to help find a cure for this devastating syndrome.
Description
The Mississippi SIDS Alliance staff travels the state of Mississippi to reach large numbers of individuals and groups who may be in contact with a newborn. Fundraising opportunities help to provide funding for the services, as all services are free. Three fundraisers each year currently are in operation. The Anna Clare Memorial Golf Tournament is always the last Thursday in June. Shopping for SIDS in Memory of Sarah Sanders Hartlein is on a Saturday in October in conjunction with the Annual Scarecrow Cruise and Car Show. The Walk for BAbies is held annually in Flowood, MS at Winner's Circle Park the last Saturday of March. The funding provides baby basic supplies and handouts for new mothers and caregivers to show a safe sleep environment for infants. The goal is to reduce the risk of SIDS and to help provide a safe place for infants to sleep. For infants in need of a safe place to sleep, the SIDS Alliance also provides cribs for infants free of charge.
