Mission Statement

In the true spirit of giving, in concensus with every religion's conviction of service, and in accord with the Human Being's inherent sense of duty and service, the 3SIG Society has been formed as a conduit to encourage individuals, Mensans especially, to join together in the warmth of giving, and extend their hands in service to the ARC, perhaps the people that need our help the most. Did it ever occur to you that, if you were born with superior intelligence, that there might be a qualifier to that? That qualifier is your duty to serve those less fortunate than you; to give of yourself and be of assistance to those individuals at the other extreme of the "bell curve". This is not a religious endeavor, but it truely is a spiritual one. Everyone is encouraged to join, Mensan and non-Mensan alike, in an effort to better humanity in general. Won't you please help?

Description

The Three Sigma Society (3SIG) is a Mensa Special Interest Group, composed of those individuals three standard deviations to the right of the average dedicated to helping individuals three standard deviations to the left of average, thus the "double meaning" of the name. Mensa is an international society that has one - and only one - qualification for membership: a score in the top 2% of the population on a standardized intelligence test. The purpose of the 3SIG Society is to assist The Arc through volunteerism and collection of donations to help support the those who are challenged mentally. The Arc is the national organization of and for people with mental retardation and related developmental disabilities and their families.
