Mission Statement
Reduce Auto Theft in Texas (RATT) is a grant program of the Texas Automobile Burglary and Theft Prevention Authority (ABTPA), a division of the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TXDMV). The mission of RATT is to reduce vehicle crimes throughout Texas by raising awareness about vehicle theft and burglary, the ramifications of being victimized, and practical methodologies to prevent auto crimes.
Description
Reduce Auto Theft in Texas (RATT) supports the vehicle theft and burglary reduction efforts of law enforcement agencies and fellow ABTPA task forces in Texas by providing training, public awareness events, media interaction, event coordination, and informational materials. RATT’s primary target audience includes all vehicle owners and operators in Texas, especially those who have not taken a vested interest in vehicle protection. In addition, RATT educates Texas law enforcement and stakeholders about vehicle crimes prevention with the expectation these individuals will take the ABTPA prevention message into their communities.
