Mission Statement

The International Economic Summit (IES) program teaches high school students about basic economics concepts through the lens of international trade. Utlizing an experience-based learning model, IES is packed with debates, negotiations and trade. Students gain first-hand experience in the complexity of international trade and the difficulties implicit in improving a country's standard of living.

Description

Supported by the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, the IES is distributed to high school teachers throughout the 9 western U.S. states. The IES curriculum culminates in a large summit event, which is usually co-hosted by a college or university.

The IES experience is really unique, and offers a one time commitment of just a few hours. Volunteers don't need a finance or economic background of any kind. It's great to see high school students totally engaged around international trade and bettering the status of their country for the day, not your normal teenage activity.
