Mission Statement
The mission of the Adult Parole Authority is to protect the public from violence and other crime by convicted offenders through the building and sharing of offender information with victims, the courts, and other justice agencies, the supervision of offenders who are in the community, and strategies aimed at rehabilitation, incapacitation and, when necessary, punishment.
Description
The Adult Parole Authority (APA) is within the Division of Parole and Community Services of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction. The division protects Ohio citizens by ensuring appropriate supervision of adult offenders in community punishments which are effective and hold offenders accountable. The Columbus Region APA supervises approximately 3,000 offenders under probation, parole, and other types of community supervision. The APA also provides pre-sentence investigations and reports to local Courts of Common Pleas, as well as supervision of some probationers. Primary duties of the office include *Promoting public safety *Monitoring offender behavior *Linking offenders with needed services *Preparing varied investigative reports *Networking in the local community *Promoting sensitivity to victims' issues
