Organization Information

Mission Statement is a national nonprofit child safety organization dedicated to preventing injuries and death to children in or around motor vehicles. has been pioneering a national prevention movement since 1996 by promoting the highest level of awareness among parents, caregivers, legislators and the public at-large about the dangers inherent to children when in or around motor vehicles. (backovers, frontovers, children left alone in vehicles, power window strangulation, vehicles knocked into motion, trunk entrapments, etc.)

It is difficult to think of anything more tragic than the needless (preventable) death of a child. Every one of these deaths is a tragedy, especially to family and friends; and each one serves as a powerful warning that other children are at risk.

We are working to reduce or eliminate these preventable tragedies thru:

  • data collection
  • education and public awareness
  • policy change
  • product redesign
  • survivor advocacy

Great organization to volunteer with. Great cause, energetic people, VERY flexible, and they've made quite a few impressive accomplishments to date. I'm proud to be a volunteer for KidsAndCars.

This is such a great organization to assist. I love the cause, helping the children and making everyone aware of these things that can happen every day. The Volunteer Manager is great to work with and I find it very easy to come home, or on the weekends, to work on the database and acquire more information. I really enjoy the work. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to help.

This organization is very easy to work with. Information is sent to you and you just record what they need on a spreadsheet. Anyone with children would probably find this to be a worthy cause.

Amber,'s Executive Assistant, is simply a joy to work with, highly responsive when clarification is needed, and understanding of a volunteer's time constraints. They are very appreciative of any assistance volunteers can provide in support of their incredibly important and worthy cause - making people aware of the "hidden" dangers involved with children and motor vehicles. Volunteering with has certainly awakened me to the need for much greater vigilance when kids are around or in motor vehicles. If you have kids, or know anyone with kids, I recommend you/they visit the website - it'll open your eyes and possibly change your life.
