Description
Seattle Urban Academy (SUA), located in Rainier Valley in Seattle, serves a student population that is approximately 95% African American, 2.5% Hispanic, 2.5% Caucasian. Approximately 85% of these students come from single parent homes. Many learn best through an untraditional teaching style and/or have some sort of a learning disability. These individuals have come to view themselves as less than capable and unable to learn. Most want to learn, but have been unsuccessful in breaking the learning "code" that seems so easy to others around them.
